Bitcoin Dice The Best Bitcoin(BTC) Dice Games

To everyone struggling with solvency:

Here's a bunch of tips for ways to make roubles and how to keep them coming in. Your results may vary but I started out as a complete newbie last wipe and farmed well over 400m, had all keys, all the cash I could spend. I'm on my way to that same level this wipe so it seems the strategies are working still, take them or leave them as you will.
Scav Runs
The first order of business should be purchasing an intelligence folder and upgrading your Intel center to at least level 1 (reduces timer to ~16 min) these extra runs will quickly pay for the cost of the folder, it also helps you progress towards your other hideout upgrades. Such as bitcoin farm, scav box which will help with more easy money later.
The runs. There are varying schools of thought here, some people like to take their time and loot interchange or reserv others like to get in and out quick, I am among the latter group. Neither is incorrect but I will explain my reasons for in and out runs.
My personal strategy is to spawn on factory, run straight to my scav extract (not gate 3, for the love of God). If I find a dead body along the way, I'll loot it. At my extract if there was a scav near by that I can kill quick loot and then immediately extract, I'll do that as well. It's usually 100-200k profit per run and I survive 90% of the time.
Squads Squads Squads
If you want to play solo, that's fine and perfectly viable but know that you have just set yourself against a harder task.
Squads offer huge benefits a few listed below:
Your downsides are that you're going to split loot in some way shape or form reducing potential/theoretical profitability (but in practice, it increases actual survival and there by profitability)
You have to have patience, waiting for everyone to get out of raids especially when someone dies early on into a raid is a pain.
The occasional team kill (accidents happen even amongst coordinated squads)
You'll divert at times from your objectives to complete someone else's objectives.
I usually find a 3 man squad works best at balancing the pros and the cons but duos and quads are doable. 5 man squads can get unwieldy and I really only do those on labs.
If you don't have a squad, and want one, Find a discord channel, join it, play with a random squad, if you don't like their community, find another, there are tons of discord out there keep trying until you find people you click with.
looting
Knowing what and how to loot will increase your profitablilty on every raid you survive, so your wins are better and carry your through more losses. This is hugely important if you are struggling with money/survivability trying to make every slot and rouble count.
Barter items: Commonly found items scattered throughout the map, unfortunately this list is extensive and ever-changing with the ebbs and flows of the markets. There are people and wikis that keep updated spreadsheets with item values I would suggest you refer to. Or taking a look at the market and getting a feel for it. Just playing the game you will build up this knowledge over time. The only suggestion I have here is that if you've never seen something before, get it out of raid. Worst case scenario is you find out it's worthless and you now know for next time, best case, it's a rare item (hence never seeing it before) and you just made bank.
Looting kills:
-When first opening up or 'tabbing' into a body look at the experience you get for searching that body it will be indicative of loot quality to some degree. Scavs with 50-100xp on initial opening likely just have their gun/ammo and an AI2 on them or similar. Scavs with 200-300xp are likely sporting labs keys, door keys, or rare items, search them entirely, pockets and all.
-search pmc pockets for things like grenades and meds, this is usually missed and can have good utility and or value.
-attachments, attachments, attachments. If you can't fit the gun what attachments does it have, items to focus on are suppressors, optics, lights, and lasers, combined they usually hold the majority of a kitted guns value between them, they're smaller and can easily be tucked into the nooks and crannies in your rigs.
-similarly, what ammo are they running? Check their magazines even if you can't fit the magazine the ammo may be worth taking out, did that player you just killed have 2 30 round magazines of bt in his vest? Great unload those puppies and place that single squar of 60 rounds in your pack, it's worth 20k give or take on the flea market.
-insurance fraud, always insure when going into raids. If you find a piece of armor, weapon, etc that is comparable to yours in value and utility, trade it out. Hide your insured item somewhere reasonably safe, and it will likely come back to you allowing you to free up space for more profit and mitigate risks as well. (now if someone kills you and loots you its not your stuff they're stealing).
If you're especially broke, you can plan to do this from the start. Don't bring in a Triton, bring in a micro rig, bring in a lightly modded scav weapon and trade it out the first opportunity you get, etc. Extend the life of YOUR gear by safely tucking it away. Even if you never extract your 1 set of gear might last you 5+ raids this way, costing the approximate 10-20% of value each time to insure. I've got a few Mrigs that I keep having come back to me on insurance since day 1 of the patch, at this point I've traded each of them up for a Triton or better and sold that for 10-20k end of raid 5+ times. That at this point only cost me 1kish to bring into each raid. If you want to be extra safe break down your weapons before tossing them, the likelihood of someone finding a loose suppressor or pk06 that's hidden in a patch of tall grass or a bush is laughably low.
Overall focus on value per slot when looting. Even on customs there's enough loot that when properly done can net you 700k+ profit for a single raid.
Risk Mitigation and cost effectiveness
This is where I find most people have the hardest time with their money. They buy stuff they don't need, over spend on stuff they'll never use, and risk/lose tens of thousands of roubles per round for no reason, they're better off throwing their money down the toilet.
Every item you bring should have a purpose, an intended use, take a good hard look at your play style, what you use, and don't bring fluff. Everyone has a different playstyle, skill set, and understanding so I can't tell what you use and what you don't. Be critical in your self evaluation though.
Common examples I see, friends copying weapon builds that have lasers, flashlights, or canted sights that they haven't used in the 10 raids I've watched their stream. Grenades they forget about unless I specifically ask for a grenade and they check to see if they have it. Stims they never pop, side arms they never switch to, etc.
Another thing I see far too often, players using armor long past its expiration date. Armors effectiveness at resisting penetration (and thus doing its joplb protecting you) is directly related to its durability compared to its original maximum durability. If you've repaired that kirasa armor so many times it's new maximum durability is 25. It's worthless at protecting you and even buckshot is going to tear through that fairly easily, it's best use at that point is being sold to fence. Generally speaking armor should be tossed when it is no longer repairable to at least 50% of its original maximum durability. I've killed more rookies this wipe rocking sub 20 maximum durability killa armor than I can count and that's with me using 545 ps ammo that has horrendously bad penetration. Worse yet they likely bought that useless armor on the market for 80k+ because it was the 'cheapest killa armor'
Make sure what you have has a purpose, isn't costing too much for your cash/income level to justify that purpose, and mostly make sure it's serving that purpose.
This even extends to some 'given' items that most people bring into every raid. If you're running a pistol, do you really need meds in your container? What are the odds you're going to survive a firefight, need to heal with those meds? Now balance that against how often you could've gotten out with another few items you found in raid, say wires, screws, bolts, those 4-5 extra slots could've been something worth 40-50k. This will depend on your skill but for most I'd lean towards not bringing the meds in that specific instance.
Early wipe (or if I'm broke) for instance you'll see me running a scav weapon with a sight/ foregrip, a rig, a spare mag or two (with 120ish rounds spare to repack in my gamma) meds (also gamma) and a scav backpack.
location, location, location
Where are you going? what do you expect to encounter? Why are you going there? Your gear and location should match accordingly. If I'm going to shoreline with just a scav gun solo, sure I might get lucky if I go to resort but I'm also drastically increasing my odds of running into geared enemy PMCs. I'd probably be better served looting pier, weather station, village, cottages, etc. I'll find enough loot to make 200k+ profit after a scav kill or two and I don't drastically increase my odds of dying and losing everything.
Consistent medium cash is the path to riches much more readily than rolling the dice hoping for that red key card.
These are a few tips to get you started on the path to profitability. I can do follow-ups or edits with suggested loadouts, weapons, links to barter item prices as necessary if there is interest.

Freelancing guide for beginners in Venezuela(Without Programming Skillls) / Guía de Freelance para principiantes en Venezuela (Sin conocimiento de programación)

Hello reddit! My name is LinkToU, and i’ve been commissioned by u/justgord to share some of my freelancing experience, living in Venezuela. It might not be much, but hopefully it'll help some people get started.
I’ve seen countless numbers of posts here in this subreddit, asking for advice on how to get started, and what are the best ways to receive money, so those are topics i’ll be touching upon in this guide.
As the title says, this is a guide that requires NO programming skills, this is meant to be a guide towards beginners, and people that are having a rough time, like i was, two and a half years ago, before getting into this.

First of all, i recommend reading this guide through google docs, because i'm not too familiar with reddit's formatting, and i think this version just looks better: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1DotVUAtEAUXfgTAhDZtmylTzA4nImhoAGZCI-8XdKtM/edit?usp=sharing
Spanish version: https://docs.google.com/document/d/13DNEyyF7F-fXjpA1AplGqQjVh0H_LWd0cCjoKdZzQm4/edit?usp=sharing

VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑOL DE LA GUÍA A MITAD DEL POST

Now, without further ado, let’s dive right into this.

What type of work can you expect to find?
There are actually a few types of jobs that you can easily find without any specific skill, for example, translations, lead generation, data entry, transcriptions, writing articles, and even being a virtual assistant. This list could go on and on, but i’ll just give you a couple websites where you can find these types of work, and you can go figure out what’s best for you.

Where to find work?
Most of the freelance work i've done it's been through two major websites, so i'll talk a little bit about them and about my experience with each.

Spare5 (https://app.spare5.com/) is the crowdworking website that got me into this, . This is basically a crowdworking website where you’ll be reviewing different images, annotating and drawing different polygons to help train AI to identify everyday objects.
Getting started in this page is the hardest part, but i’d say it’s just as hard as it was back in 2017 when i started.
You’ll first have to complete every tutorial, then move on to the qualifiers and onto paid tasks (be sure that you understand every task before diving into them, because if you don’t perform well on your paid tasks, they’ll be taken away from you, and you might even get permanently banned).
The minimum payment is $1, and the payment method that they use is PayPal, you don’t need to have a verified Paypal account, and you WILL NOT get your account limited by just receiving money from this page.
Like i said, the hardest part of this page is to get started, as tasks will be scarce, so try not to make any mistakes, and do every task as best as you can, this will guarantee that they give you even more tasks, and eventually, you’ll be assigned permanent tasks, and your dashboard will look something like this: https://imgur.com/a/TSUASME , as you notice, the payment for each task is really low but don’t get discouraged, you’ll want to find one that is easy to do, and that you can memorize the instructions, i’ve made up to $20 in just a couple of hours, out of easy tasks that paid 0.2c each. Of course, you’ll need practice, Practice makes perfect.
I have NOT been working on this page lately, because the payment per tasks has been diminished, and tasks only get more and more complicated to complete.

Next, is Reddit, more specifically, the subreddit where i’ve found most of my freelancing jobs, is /slavelabour , where people post any kind of job that they need done (Seriously, any, i’ve seen many kinds of crazy stuff going on there), along with a payment offer, and usually a method.
This one is pretty good, since you can find different kinds of work based on your skills, i’ve mostly done data entry types of jobs there, but there are many others easy for beginners, you just have to keep an eye out for when any potential job gets posted.
Other similar subreddits that i frequent, but aren’t as active as /slavelabour are: /Jobs4Bitcoins/ , /WorkOnline/ /ForHire/ Follow the same advice that i will give for /slavelabour , as these work similarly.

Those are the main two websites where i've worked at for the past two years, there are some others that i know of, but since i haven't used them, i don't know how they work.

Now, let's talk a little bit about payment methods, and what are some good options for receiving your money once you've got yourself some gigs.

Payment methods:
Now that you know what are some good places to get started, let's talk about what's the best place to receive your payments, and keep your money safe. I’ll take about the few methods that i’ve used myself, such as PayPal, Uphold, AirTM, and most recently, Cryptos.

Where to receive your payments?

Uphold is another cloud based financial services platform, similar to PayPal, and with similar fees. The good thing about this platform, is that you can exchange your funds from USD to Crypto, and many other currencies, at the cost of a relatively small fee.
I haven’t used this method too much myself, as i used this mainly for it’s Virtual Credit Card feature, which is temporarily not available.

AirTM is an e-wallet where you can keep your money, and exchange it to other currency, or buy USD with your local money, all in the same platform.
Out of all the options i'm going to list for payment methods, this is my least favorite, as the fees are incredibly high, and in my opinion, what this website provides isn't worth it.
I haven’t had much experience with AirTM, as the fees are ridiculous, but i’ve used it and i’ll share my experiences.

Finally, Cryptocurrencies, i’ve only started using this method recently, and i can already say, this is my favorite so far, and the method i’ll mainly use from now onwards, as this has proven to be really easy to set up, and in my opinion, the best option for receiving payments, as you’ll pay minimum fees for your transactions, keep your identity safe, and the exchange rate to Venezuela’s currency is really good.
I’d say there is no downside to receiving your payments here, as even if you were worried by the Crypto’s price dropping, you could easily use a third party website to exchange your Crypto, to USD in any other platform you’d like.
The cryptocurrencies that i’ve used are Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH), all of the transactions that i’ve done haven’t taken longer than 30 minutes, with the exception of using SideshiftAI to exchange my BCH into BTC, which took about an hour. Setting up a wallet for these is rather easy, however here’s a quick guide for BTC and BCH. https://bitcoin.org/en/getting-started .
Also, another point in Crypto’s favor, is that some stores have begun accepting cryptos as a payment method, there’s an app in the Google Play Store named “CryptoLugaresVE” With a list of places accepting crypto as a payment method.

Finally, i’ll talk a little bit about the couple websites that you can use to safely exchange money from USD, to Venezuela’s currency. Other than these, you’d have to find someone of your trust to exchange your currency.

Where to safely exchange your earnings to Venezuela’s currency?

That’s it for now, I’ll probably update the guide as i learn more and try out new stuff, as well as with your feedback. I just want to thank u/justgord for giving me the opportunity to share all of this with you guys!

Hola Reddit!

PLAY GOC NETWORK - A Platform You Can Believe In

What's up everyone? Frost here, an admin from PLAY GOC NETWORK.
If you haven't heard of us already, you'd be happy to learn about our cryptocurrency casino. You can start trading and start playing here at PLAY GOC NETWORK with little to no effort. I'd say the most important fact about the platform is the dedicated developeadmin team at your disposal 24/7. Should you ever have an issue with depositing and withdrawing, you will have someone available to aid your issues whenever you need.
Our online games require no personal information to play and our casino players are some of the friendliest I've ever met. In the online gambling space there are a wide range of cryptocurrency casinos to choose from. With PLAY GOC NETWORK you will be guaranteed safety, security, and a provably fair algorithm which is rivaled by few others and surpassed by none. We also have a whitepaper and updates section which are kept up to date regularly.
Currently, our casino players are looking forward to our development and integration of many new digital currencies. The primary digital currency, amongst others so many are looking forward to, is Bitcoin (BTC). The reasoning behind this is due to the volatility and mass usage of the asset. Soon, casino players will be able to create bitcoin wallets and play with bitcoin on our platform. Bitcoin gambling has been a widely used method in the online gambling space for the last few years. Being able to accept bitcoin on the platform will absolutely be a milestone for us. Other notables on the list for immediate addition and integration to the platform include EOS and ETH. Our developers are working around the clock to deliver this in a timely manner while also maintaining the integrity and security of the site. Having casino games with the capability for bitcoin transactions will be a game changer for the gaming, and the market.
Whether playing a slots game, blackjack, baccarat, dice, or testing your luck on our Texas Hold'em platform, gambling with crypto currency is our bread and butter. In the future we will possess a capability for sports betting, player progression, and other ways to realize gains with real money. With crypto currency as a whole, it is so much easier to gamble online without using a credit card and racking up their pesky fees.
On to the newest updates for PLAY GOC NETWORK. We've recently brought forth our rank progression on the Texas Hold'em platform and have enabled a new way for casino players to earn money back with their rake inputs. Over time a player's rake will add up and add to their level for increased rake-back rewards. This is a very important aspect of the poker platform because regulars to the platform will be rewarded for their dedication. Many forget there is also a referral bonus available as well. When combined, and average casino player can make some serious money on our poker platform. What other cryptocurrency casino out there allows for players to get so much back for their time?
Other recently updated aspects to the site include support for other languages including Russian, Spanish, and Portuguese. The site has also been available in Chinese for some time now. With this adaptation, the site is now opened up to many other demographics and regions with ease of access. If you (the reader, player, or investor) can name another cryptocurrency casino which is so dedicated to their player base please let me know.
For this next topic of focus, I genuinely don't see another cryptocurrency casino putting in half the effort we do. Let's talk social media. Currently, PLAY GOC NETWORK has created a social media presence on 10+ platforms. Our primary social media platforms which net the majority of our presence would be Twitter and YouTube. We host contests and giveaways on Twitter as well as spread our influence throughout. It is a hub for new ideas and allows our cryptocurrency casino to truly grow and spread its influence. As for YouTube, it takes every aspect of our online casino and breaks it down to a manner that even the newest of crypto currency users can understand. Tutorials, Live Giveaways, and Live Contests. They all are culminated into our YouTube channel and are enjoyed by the entirety of our wonderful player base.
If social media isn't really your thing and you'd like to see all current information in a one-stop-shop manner, you can join our telegram channel for the most current and up to date info. Telegram is our literal hub of information dissemination and is enjoyed by nearly all of our members. We have a primary community telegram channel for the masses to discuss ideas, talk about their awesome winnings, or simply just come to blow off steam at the end of a long day. We also have a debugging channel which is solely for members experiencing bugs on site. Developer support is conducted quickly and funds are always returned to members experiencing a bug. At PLAY GOC NETWORK we are truly a family and the regulars here at our crypto currency casino know that to be true. Why else would they come day in and day out to have normal conversations relating to their everyday lives?
That brings me to my next and final item to talk about. We are not just a cryptocurrency casino. We are a community, and so far in my experience this community acts like a family through thick and thin. There will be good days and bad days for all of us, and just like a real family we can depend on each other. Our community telegram if often filled with talk of prices and games, but what I'm particularly proud of is the genuine respect we have for one another and the positive vibe we bring forth day in and day out. It's one of the most beautiful parts of being in the crypto space. Often times there will be shady characters with malicious behavior, but so far in our development there hasn't been much of that at all. We truly have a growing family here at PLAY GOC NETWORK and if that's not beautiful then I don't know what is.
As always, PLAY within your limits PLAYers.
Frost out.

For Once A Thoughtful Post on SLF

u/cornycatlady posted on SLF:
https://www.reddit.com/sugarlifestyleforum/comments/bokiyd/scared_of_getting_older_as_a_sb/
You may have noticed:
  1. The aged out prostitutes on SLF have no qualms about launching ageist attacks against younger girls between 18-25, calling the latter simpletons and immature. In reality, the thoughts expressed by the post showed much more maturity than the lying hags attacking heit.
  2. Many of those aged out prostitutes are chronic liars. Who would believe their stories about SD's buying her a Tesla Model S then a Model 3? (It's like buying a Toyota Camry/Corolla to replace a recent vintage Lexus LS; did the writer ever get to see the inside of those cars before writing such nonsense?) or SD giving her a beach house before conveniently dying? or being engaged to an SD of many years but somehow the SD has relocatedd to Europe for many months and they are still engaged to be married.
  3. The buying-her-a-beach-house-then-dying-timely story sounds like the wishful dream of an aged out prostitute pretending to be an SB. It shouldn't be a surprise that a woman having to stay in sex industry for too long would become bitter, and consequently nobody, not even very very old men would want to invest in her as an SB. Little wonder some very wealthy very old men like Bob Kraft would prefer a cash-and-carry sex-worker instead of a time-bomb like the former Clippers' owner's "SB" V blowing up and breaking his heart even after millions of dollars invested into her. "V" would be classified as a sex-worker / prostitute not an SB in this forum due to her juggling of multiple men besides her primary benefactor. It shouldn't be a surprise that she would turn out to be a fiasco.
  4. The lies that the aged-out prostitutes on SLF weave are actually real life lessons on not to become a prostitute (i.e. providing sex to multiple men, thereby making her own life insecure in the long run) . . . if you know how to read between their lines. If older ladies were more desirable than younger ladies, why is the term "Sugar Baby" instead of "Sugar Hag"?
Now let me address some of the specific issues raised in that post:
For once in my life, I envy not being a man.
No need for such envy; you likely don't notice the sorry lives of the bottom 95% of men.
For us women, our attractiveness is predominantly tied to our bodies and faces, and inevitably diminishes with time.
Your physical attractiveness allow you to engage and enjoy the attention of the top 1-3% of men. That is possible only because they pay little attention to older and less attractive women. Put it another way, even if you are a 9+ (there are no 10's); i.e. in the top 10% in beauty and youth, if all men were attracted to women in complete disregard of age then you'd only have 1 in 10 chance of finding a guy making half a mil or more a year as that's the cut-off line for the top 1% . . . that's for a 9+! only 1 in 10 chance. Of course in real life a girl of 9+ has better than 10% chance: she can get her turn while she is young and pretty. So instead of complaining about the transiency of the power of your youth/beauty, be appreciative of the fact that you can punch above your weight for a few years, so to speak. The dropping out of ladies in their 30's, 40's, 50's, 60's and etc. that used to be attractive years ago is the reason why you are able to find the time and attention from a man in the top 1-3% when you only need to be in the top 10% to 20% (i.e. 8 to 9+; sometimes even a 7 on the 10-point scale might work).
Of course, personality, priorities, all that inside stuff matters too for attractiveness in women, but it won't attract SD when we are 50 years old.
The real number is much lower than 50, like 30 if not 27. I wouldn't start with a new girl over 27. I prefer longer term relationships that last a few years.
However with men, for me at least, wealth, education, attire, health, and personality is what I deem sexy. These things are acquired over time and have a longevity to this sex appeal.
Instinctively you are looking for security from a male partner to help you with your baby projects. That's what women are biologically programmed to do, just like men are programmed to seek sex. Both are healthy and normal sexual desires.
Many SLF comments also gave you advice on investing. The same forum would have recommended Bitcoin if you were asking the question 18 months ago, just before it lost 80% of its value in the following year. They are now recommending stock indexing and real estate after a decade of continuous price expansion in both, where were they in 2009 to 2011? I was buying real estate hands-over-fist between 2009 to 2014 (at 30-70% price discount compared to the 2007 peak), but stopped in 2015 as higher prices made buying unattractive. Price cycles like those are common in financial history. NASDAQ (mostly tech and biotech stocks) index lost 80% of its value between 2000 and 2003. The 2008 drop cut SP500 in half. The supposed advice from sex-workers on SLF reminds me of this scene from The Big Short: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xZTFNizSNGs It's another reason why professional career choices with short time horizons are bad ideas: the financial bubbles and busts are there to harvest money from the dummies to those "deserving money." The old saying: Money always finds ways to reach hands that deserve it. Before you follow the advice of indexing this late in the current cycle (10 years in, as of Feb 2019), you may want to think about whether you have either the intellect or time horizon for either joining the herd stamped or beating the index.
Let's take a detour and examine two simple games of dice rolls: a simple standard six-sided dice (1-6) vs. two dices rolling and averaging the two. The single fair dice would of course give (100% / 6) = 16.7% chance to each of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6. Rolling two dices and averaging the two would still produce results between 1 and 6, averaging exactly the same 3.5 expectation/average value. However, the distribution of outcomes are drastically different: there are 36 possible permutations when rolling two dices (many are redundant outcomes after averaging), but exactly 1 out 36 can produce an average of 6, so the probability of getting a 6 is 1/36 = 2.8%, which is drastically lower than the 16.7% probability of getting an outcome of 6 when rolling a single dice. In fact, there are two different ways of getting an average of 5.5: (6, 5) (5, 6); three different ways of getting an average of 5: (5, 5) (6, 4) (4, 6). So there are a total of 6 ways of getting 5 or better when rolling two dices and averaging them (out of 36 possible outcomes) and their average is (1x6 + 2x5.5 + 3x5) = 5.3. The cut-off line for the top 16% in single dice roll is a 6, whereas the cut-off for the top 16% in averaging two dice rolls is a full point lower (16.7% lower) at 5 (not even 5.5) and the average of the top 16% is only 5.3 (compared to 6 in single dice rolls); the average of the top 1/6 outcome from averaging-two-dice-rolls is literally lower than the average of the top 1/3 outcomes from single dice rolls! 5.3 vs. 5.5. There are far more than 33% probability of getting an outcome between 3 and 4 (inclusive of 3 and 4) when averaging two dice rolls.
That's the type of mathematical reality that you have to deal with when averaging two X-chromosomes (aka "being a woman," averaging two strands of dices) vs. having only one X-chromosome (aka "being a man," rolling only one genetic dice at each gene site for protein encoding/synethsis); X-chromosome is where most genes for intelligence are located (Y-chromosome having only less than 80 genes compared to the X's around 1200 genes is little more than a stub for exposing the single X-chromosome in men, so that the females can have more clear targets for sexual selection). Women are effectively given a genetic insurance policy to have far more outcomes in the middle of the distribution (the equivalent of between 3 and 4 in the dice rolls above) while giving up substantial probabilities at both extremes: both the extremely brilliant and the extremely dumb have much more men than women. Heck, the curse of having only one X-chromosome is so severe that boys have statistically significant higher probability of dying before reaching adulthood than girls do.
Unfortunately, as a woman, the biological instincts make you see only the top few percentage of men (it is the driving force behind evolution, and the reason why humanity exists); btw, men similarly instinctively sense whether you still have live eggs on the shelf, courtesy of the same evolutionary process. It is hard enough for a man to be successful enough to be in the top 1-5% (what it takes to be able to afford sugaring consistently), literally only 1 in 20 chance or lower; it's much harder for a woman . . . and more than half of it is due to what you are born with! Decades and billions of federal money spent on Head-Start already proved that education, even starting as early as pre-school, has little effect on a person's eventual level of success in adulthood; what makes a good college good is the admission process (i.e. the student body itself).
So, what's the solution for a young woman? How to put together a relatively happy and content life for yourself? (instead of concocting them in fantasy stories online)
IMHO, the first order of business is learning to be content with what you have, what you can produce on your own (and what your partner can provide for you when you can find one). Then try to recruit a competent/excellent male helpesponsor. If your SD is not destined to be your reproductive partner, then the less luxury he exposes you to is ironically better for you in the long run: leaving more room for your future reproductive partner to impress you. Given today's feminist indoctrination (premising that women are identical to men), it's hard for a woman to be a submissive good wife: who wants to be a good submissive wife when her friends are beating up their husbands and bragging about it and cheered on by mainstream media. Unless you are one of the rare ones who can be content with "leaving the burden of family decision making to the husband," a more suitable solution may well be co-parenting with a successful man: he pays for your own household, in which you indeed are head-and-shoulders above those surrounding you (your kids); his sponsorship can also enable you to be better off than your immediate neighbors, in a good neighborhood with good school district, but not necessarily the most expensive neighborhoods where the neighboring wives make each other unhappy via their competition.
My advice to my own daughter is getting "married" (de jure or de facto) by 22yo, likely the peak of a girl's "marketability." Have babies early while physical recovery is fast. Then pursue professional careers after the kids are grown old enough to attend schools. Don't obsess with the rat race or being a tax slave. She will likely find much more happiness in her own family (especially her own kids) than in serving bosses and business customers.

Predicting Value of Crypto

Almost every day, I hear the same sentiment expressed: the value of cryptocurrencies is impossible to predict, and therefore they cannot be considered an investment. Just last week, President Donald Trump hinted at this idea in a series of Tweets.

So, is Trump right? Does Bitcoin’s volatility mean that its value is just a roll of the dice, or is there a way to determine (with reasonable certainty) when to buy and sell? Can Metcalfe’s Law or another formula be used to determine when a currency may be over- or under-valued? Can assets that aren’t touched by banks have a true value at all?

Metcalfe’s Law: A Brief History

In the 1980s, Robert Metcalfe, the inventor of Ethernet, proposed that the value of a telecommunications network is proportional to the square of the number of nodes (or users), N, in the network. Put another way, the value of a network is proportional to the number of connections between users, assuming that all users are connected to each other; the more people I can contact, the more valuable the system will be to me.
In 2015, Zhang et al. discovered that this same principle applies to Facebook and Tencent (China’s largest social media network) when the number of monthly active users is used as N.
In 2017, Ken Alabi demonstrated that the law also applies to three different cryptocurrencies (Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Dash) fairly well. Just one year later, Wheatley, et al. proposed a modification to the formula for cryptocurrencies, N^(1.69), that fit the data better and accounted for the fact that not every user is connected to or interested in connecting to every other. The researchers estimated that each user is connected to N^(2/3) other users.

What About Bubbles?

Following a series of major crashes in the price of Bitcoin, many in the crypto community lost faith in the ability of Metcalfe’s Law to accurately predict the value of cryptocurrencies. After all, the number of users did not fall as dramatically as the price after Mt. Gox was hacked in 2011, a major Ponzi scheme involving Bitcoin was discovered in 2012, Mt. Gox collapsed in 2013 or South Korea threatened regulation in 2017.
However, Didier Sornette proposed that a market is bound to crash if its value is growing at a super-exponential rate (if its rate of growth is itself growing), unless there is an infinite supply of people to join the market. This idea is widely accepted, but it does not postulate exactly when the market will crash, only that it will eventually. The wise investor will be aware of this condition and, when the price starts tumbling, will sell immediately.

Sornette goes on to argue that the exact timing of each of these crashes was determined by the outside events affecting the market and that any market disruption would have caused similar effects due to this super-exponential growth. Each event was just the straw that broke the camel’s back (before the camel regenerated, only to have its back broken again).

Network Value to Transactions (NVT) Ratio

Popularized by Willy Woo and Chris Burniske, the Network Value to Transactions ratio is another formula that aims to determine when the price of a crypto asset is over- or under-valued.

NVT = (Daily Market Cap)/(90-Day Moving Average of Daily Transaction Volume)

Kalichkin suggests that any NVT over 20 indicates that a coin is overvalued and a correction is likely. However, as with the other models, one cannot use this to determine exactly when a correction will occur. In addition, it can be challenging to find accurate data on daily transaction volume, limiting the practicality of this metric.

Final Words

According to Edward Fricker, co-founder of the lightning wallet TrustlessBank, attempts to determine the objective value of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies miss the mark: " Metcalfe’s Law and NVT have been promoted by analysts who struggled to find some way to determine an objective value [of Bitcoin] that is outside the market price, but in doing so, they failed to see the truth that was right in front of them: the market price is exactly the same as the objective value because Bitcoin is the most liquid asset in the world.”

Why you should bet on Bethash.io - Fairest Casino in the World

https://preview.redd.it/u8o9b1yvghf31.png?width=1024&format=png&auto=webp&s=dad02f727acc09b8dbc76f4b98391cb17fe6990b
Bethash is a crypto gambling casino created in 2019 and powered by the Decentralized EOS Network. Bethash.io allows players to bet on future blocks and earn passive income. Bethash is available in 3 languages and offers 5 different gambling games like Lottery, Dice, Blackjack, Slots and Banker Bull and is planning on releasing two more soon. It is the fairest casino in the crypto community and it’s becoming one of the most popular ones as well.

Features

Bethash.io only accepts Tron (TRX) deposits as well as other cryptocurrencies and players can exchange their TRX for EOS for example, inside the casino using the in-house Bethash exchange. Users can also benefit from the daily passive income that Bethash offers using 65% of all the house edge. This will be sent to the Bonus Pool in real time and all HASH holders will share the bonus pool in a specific percentage proportional to their holding amount.
Players can check how much they are getting rewarded at any time at: https://bethash.io/page/dividend
Players are also rewarded with HPoints which can be used to bet on the casino as well as participating in various promotions. Players will earn 1 HPoint for every 10 USDT value bet placed using rates that are recalculated every 5 minutes. Keep in mind that HPoints cannot be used outside the Bethash casino and is non-transferable.
Additionally, HASH holders will get:
  1. A proportional share of the dividends pool after staking.
  2. On each HASH being purchased, a percentage of the sales (which is in HPoint) will be distributed among current round HASH buyers.
In order for players to get HASH they will need to spend HPoints in the ‘GET HASH’ platform inside the casino and where each HASH redeemed adds 30 seconds to a jackpot timer but will also increase the cost of each HASH token. The last player who redeems HASH will get 70% of the jackpot instantly when the round ends. Players can also simply stake HASH tokens and get rewarded that way.
Bethash.io also holds regular competitions and giveaways which are usually announced in the chat where players can ask questions, discuss about their gambling strategies or simply chat about anything they want.
A loyalty rewards program is another unique feature offered by Bethash which shares all its net token profit to their token holders

https://preview.redd.it/odudfas0hhf31.png?width=702&format=png&auto=webp&s=ed1415be3f85448dfac01277faf3005d867ac0e3

Bonuses and Rewards

Bethash.io is currently offering a sign up bonus where players have to join telegram and follow Bethash on twitter to receive 100 HPoints without having to deposit anything. Profits can be redeemed to HASH at any point without any kind of roll over requirement.
Additionally, Bethash holds a wagering war every 3 months with a prize of $5000 to TOP 10 players. Players can also participate in the weekly race with a price of $500 where again, only TOP 10 players are rewarded.
Players can also benefit from the Leveling system Bethash offers. Every level up gives the players the possibility to choose one of the following bonuses:
https://preview.redd.it/079w7r92hhf31.png?width=1153&format=png&auto=webp&s=55baf7e0639ef9128441bbce8f5089b1357e6b6e

Players can level up by playing games and wagering or inviting their friends to play on Bethash.

Provably Fair

Bethash.io uses a provably fair system similar to famous ‘Satoshi Dice’ but instead of using Bitcoin, all winning numbers of EOSHASH games are generated using the latest EOS transaction hash, this makes it literally impossible for the casino to ever cheat since the EOS transaction HASH ID’s are out of anyone's control. Players can check and verify their bets at any time they want.
This works well because EOS has a faster block generation time than Bitcoin or Ethereum with a 0.5 second block time.

Support

Bethash.io has a help center that contains a FAQ and other questions users might have, additionally, players can submit a ticket if they need further assistance.

Conclusion

Bethash is an unique crypto gambling platform using the EOS decentralized network. It offers a simple yet beautiful design with an user-friendly interface. It has a good variety of gambling games and plans to release more in the future. In terms of fairness, it is perhaps the fairest possible casino out there by making use of the powerful EOS decentralized nature, players can be 100% sure they are not getting cheated.
Bethash.io is also offering a ton of bonuses and rewards as well as many benefits to their token holders. A really nice support system with a lot of information for new players but also the possibility of sending a support ticket.

[Transcript] Crypto Zombie Interview With Anonymous Komodo Founder JL777

Crypto Zombie talks about the interview at 13:30 of his video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LTOdWcuuSFA
Link to full text at pages 10 to 15: https://gallery.mailchimp.com/b1c805c050ef6fca080b9d888/files/cf42e52f-5978-4f4e-b45a-241b94af4638/12_BlockchainBrief_November.pdf
-------
CRYPTO ZOMBIE: It is difficult to describe the Komodo Platform in just a few words. Often confused as simply a privacy coin, KMD, is actually an incredibly robust and intricate ecosystem. With Komodo’s unique spin on smart contracts, referred to as “crypto-conditions,” and the fact that KMD has already achieved 45,000 TPS (1,000,000 possible in the near future), this platform may actually be the first crypto to solve all four of blockchain’s major pain-points: privacy, scalability, interoperability, and security. In this much anticipated AMA, I got to chat with the anonymous founder of Komodo, JL777, via the Komodo Discord. Here is what JL777 had to say...

CZ: So let’s jump into this directly with the MOST requested community question: Are you Satoshi Nakamoto?

JL777: Happy to answer questions of a non-personal nature. That seems pretty personal. But I didn’t arrive in crypto until late 2013, so clearly I can’t be Satoshi. Maybe there are a lot of similarities in our beliefs, but he was gone before I arrived.

CZ: Just starting off with some fun! Alright, so all jokes asides let’s dive in. What exactly is Komodo (KMD)?

JL777: It has many different aspects, hard to make a single statement about it. I know this drives the marketing side nuts as they need these elevator pitch things. However, I can explain how it is evolving. It starts with the desired end solution: a crypto that can handle mass market scale, has privacy, is secure, and fast. Given that just getting two of those four usually requires making significant trade-offs to decentralization. You can imagine that it is not an easy problem to solve! So, KMD starts with Zcash privacy: the best available privacy tech. So, we can check that off the list. But, it needs to be secure. So I had to invent the dPoW [consensus] to leverage BTC’s massive hashrate. That allowed us to have a lot of independent chains, all secured by dPoW, which led to the runtime forking ability that lets you launch a chain from the command line without any source code changes. PoW, PoS, some hybrid, all types of premine and emission schedules.

CZ: Could you briefly explain dPoW and why it’s so secure, for those who don’t understand?

JL777: dPoW is dynamically creating decentralized checkpoints to the BTC blockchain. That means that once a block is notarized, it is like having it “write protected.” No need to worry about it being rewritten. Being rewritten is a very real danger!

CZ: So in other words as long as BTC is not under 51% attack it would be impossible for Komodo or any of it’s chains to be affected?

JL777: I wouldn’t say impossible, but it becomes order of magnitude (or more) difficult. I wrote a description of the reorg process and can post it here if you’d like.

CZ: Sure we can link to it for further research. That would be great!

JL777: https://github.com/KomodoPlatform/Mastering_CryptoConditions It directly applies to explaining dPoW. It is from the documentation on the channels CC (Crypto-Conditions), which implements an improved form of Lightning Networks and addresses the latency issue, as it provides dPoW protection to mempool transactions. With the privacy and security items addressed, the next thing to do was scaling. Along the way people kept asking for smart contracts. With the notarization process in place, it enabled us to create a solution that non-notarized chains are unable to do. That is creating a reference set of hashes that allow you to verify that a transaction on any chain has been confirmed, on any other chain. It uses a method that is very similar to SPV validation. It’s all about merkleroots and merkleroots of merkleroots from many different chains all being combined. This is sent back to the notarizer and ends up in the notarization data. Once it’s there, then any notarized chain is able to validate the raw data from a transaction that actually happened on a different chain. What that allows is a burn protocol to burn coins on one chain and recreate them on another. So, the total coins across all of the fungible chains are constant. That means you can have however many chains you need for the transactions per second (TPS) needed. Anytime you need to transfer coins from one chain to the next, you use the burn protocol. Reading it, it does seem pretty deep technical... sorry... I guess it can be summarized as using notarization to create a cluster of chains whose total coin supply is held constant. This forms our scaling solution. Instead of having to create some cutting edge networking protocol that can handle some crazy TPS, with our solution you just spawn a new chain. It is similar to building more roads if your existing roads are congested. No need for any magical maglev vacuum tube high throughput high ways. Just a bunch of normal roads, if you have a bunch of cars... Just a bunch of normal blockchains if you need a bunch of TPS. I much prefer the simple solutions, as I can fully understand those.

CZ: Exactly! Such a simple solution, but yet you still see so many people going crazy over TPS! On the topic of tech, I’m curious what your thoughts are on some of these newer solutions, such as the rise of DAG protocols?

JL777: When it gets so complex and you need some math jargon to prove that it works... well, how can I know that it does? Code isn’t exactly a math proof. I think there are many very interesting experiments. However, I prefer to stick with the tried and true Bitcoin protocol and extend it. Why reinvent the wheel? Especially when so much work has been done already to make Bitcoin work as well as it does. It only breaks down at high load and isn’t very easy to program. Though I did make an atomic swap system called BarterDEX, which does utilize the Bitcoin script.

CZ: Yes! Let’s expand on that! What is the difference between atomic swaps and etomic swaps?

JL777: Etomic swap was just my way of quickly getting ETH into the BarterDEX. BarterDEX uses the Bitcoin protocol to do swaps. ETH doesn’t do Bitcoin protocol so I made an ETOMIC coin and you swap that using the protocol. We implemented a 1:1 lock/unlock of ETH/ERC20 for the ETOMIC. It does add a new layer and with mm2, we will directly implement atomic swaps between ETH and Bitcoin protocol.

CZ: With so many blockchains now switching from ERC-20s to their own mainnets (native blockchains), does this mean that some blockchains will never be interoperable through the BarterDEX? Or do you think it’s a possibility in the future?

JL777: With there being so many totally incompatible new protocols, it seems unlikely that they will interoperate very well and will go off and create their own island. Isolated from the rest of crypto. Maybe some will be very big islands though. Unless they have enough usage on their “island” it would seem it will eventually become a problem...

CZ: This does make you wonder if TRUE interoperability between all blockchains will ever be possible...

JL777: I think if these islands wanted to be interoperable, they can add this, but I suspect some don’t want to be. They maybe have dreams of becoming the only crypto. Which, of course, is an unrealistic expectation when the barrier to create a new crypto is so low. You don’t need a nation state to create a crypto! Even with such a big barrier, we end up with hundreds of fiat currencies. There is no single global currency, so how on earth can anybody truly believe there will be some single crypto? I try to base my decisions on common sense and simplicity. It ends up being quite complex as it is, even if it is created out of simple components. Now that KMD is getting the CC extensions, it completes all the technical requirements. The Crypto Conditions is mainly for the scaling solution, but I started experimenting with it a couple months ago and it started surprising me with its power!

CZ: This is true! I know you have a unique way of handling smart contracts. What are Crypto-Conditions and what makes UTXO-based smart contracts such a breakthrough for the future of blockchain?

JL777: To call it smart contracts is really understating what it is. Consider that it is possible to have a single CC (Crypto-Condition) transaction type mean “run the associated smart contract using the interpreted language.” What the CC does is create a new vout type, like p2pk, p2pkh, p2sh, there is a new CC vout type. This is an output that needs to satisfy the specified CC script, which can handle the industry standard Crypto-Conditions specification. But I had it extended a bit so we can have custom functions that also need to be satisfied. By making it a custom function, it allows essentially anything to be implemented. And by anything, I mean ANYTHING. At first I wasn’t 100% sure of this, but my first four CC extensions I made were: faucet, rewards, dice, and assets. The faucet is a blockchain enforced faucet. Rewards is a blockchain enforced rewards plan. Basically what most people want masternodes for. Lock funds... get some extra percentage. Dice is a blockchain enforced real-time dice game, just to show that such things can be done. Assets is a token creation system that allows a user to create new tokens with a single transaction. I also implemented functions needed for a DEX. So, basically counter-party functionality. These were the first four and I did it in several weeks as I was learning about how to do it and doing them for the first time. My thinking is that after we get a critical mass of CC extensions, the vast majority of dApps can be created just via RPC calls. No need to code a new CC extension, no need to code a smart contract, just issue RPC calls (or just click buttons and forms in a GUI). The next iteration of CC, I came up with oracles, gateways, prices and channels. Oracles creates a market driven data market for “oracle-izing” data on-chain. Gateways uses the oracles and assets to automatically tokenize BTC to an on-chain asset and also allows for automatically process withdraws.
Basically the proxy DEX model of trading BTC equivalents, but it will be protected with a multisig custodians and all the tokens are locked in a contract until released with a valid deposit. The prices CC will use the oracles and gateway CC to implement a cash settled BitMEX type of leveraged betting on the BTC price. The channels CC is being debugged by one of the new devs who just started last week and it will be a better form of Lightning Network, as it uses a backward compatible transaction format, doesn’t require nodes to be online, and is secured by dPoW.

CZ: Thats crazy! Most people really have no idea the Komodo platform is this robust. Komodo seems like it has already achieved so many things: scalability, privacy, interoperability, and security. So why do you feel it often gets overshadowed by newer, more “flashy” tech, that may in fact be inferior?

JL777: I think the problem is that it has too much for any “elevator pitch,” so nobody who makes decisions in elevators decides to buy KMD! I don’t think there is any flashier tech than KMD, considering it solves all the crypto issues that other projects are struggling to do just a couple aspects of, when we can implement the entire value add of some project with a single CC that takes a few weeks to do... If that isn’t flashy, not sure what is!

CZ: So, I recently spoke with PTYX from Chainzilla. Will Komodo platform continue offering services to premiere partners or will you be “passing the torch” over to other Blockchain-as-a-service platforms like Chainzilla?

JL777: I just write code, so no idea what will happen regarding the non-coding side of things. I also don’t do GUI, so no idea when any of that will be done. I am just a simple C programmer. So I write C code to solve the deep tech issues that are otherwise unsolved.

CZ: Gotcha... But you know that’s VERY important, especially for user adoption.

JL777: Ideas by Nature I am trusting will solve the GUI issues. Much, much better than I could. I have to rely on others to get such things done.

CZ: Yes I’m excited to see how that turns out! Let’s discuss adoption. You always hear people speak about “mass adoption,” but what do you feel it will REALLY take in order for this technology to reach the masses?

JL777: Games. Realtime crypto games. That is why I did dice CC. We also have plans for a lotto CC. But, really any sort of game can be made blockchain enforceable now by using the CC tech. And, being UTXO-based, it is much more secure and so far it is much faster to code and debug.

CZ: I’m so glad you said that because I feel games will be a huge proponent as well! Are you guys looking to also be able to deal with non-fungibles? For example ERC-721s?

JL777: Already done. We just need a lot more coders, domain specific CC, to take the reference CC I am making and customizing it into some specific dApp. My role is to show the type of things that can be done, but we really need a big ecosystem with projects doing the various games and specific use case dApps.

CZ: Do you make any decisions outside of just the coding? How does the governance within Komodo work?

JL777: People like to ask me for my opinion, even on things like colors and such things, but I try to stay out of it as much as possible. Let each person with expertise make the decisions. If there is some deadlock, then maybe I let my opinion be known. But, I don’t have any special powers, other than the common sense thing, and people when they hear a good common sense solution to a problem they are battling with, it is usually adopted. But, I stay out of the team meetings and let them do their thing. Things are centralized around me too much as it is, so I try to reduce it as much as possible

CZ: That’s good to know. Seems quite fair. Everyone has a say and anyone can expand on the ecosystem how they see fit to the best of their abilities.

JL777: Yes, totally open community.

CZ: So, this is another community question: What is your relationship with ØCryptoUnion?

JL777: There is no formal relationship. They are working on some sort of gateway project, like several other projects. But, there are dozens of projects in the ecosystem and no formal relationship. This is old style crypto, not the new style corporate. At least that is how I am “managing” the open source side of things. There is a different side, that I am not involved in, so I can’t speak to how things are done there.

CZ: You bring up a good point, however, given the reality that we live in a world that is controlled by few (governments, institutions, etc), do you think a truly decentralized future is realistically possible?

JL777: A much more decentralized future is possible. But, it is also possible for a global totalitarian state. We already are close to a global surveillance state... very dangerous

CZ: I think the biggest problem is getting people to actually CARE. Most people just want the easiest, most convenient thing and often are willing to sacrifice privacy over convenience.

JL777: Well, when it comes to MONEY, people do CARE. Especially in the parts of the world where basic survival is not easy. But yes, privacy has been sacrificed a lot, to the point where people think you must be some sort of extremist if you just want to keep some privacy. But, a lot of writers of novels used pen-names. Nobody went accusing them. When the police can’t be trusted to be fair, then everybody cares about hiding as much as possible, since anything can and will be used against you! And we know we can’t trust criminals, since they ignore the law.. So why advertise to the world who you are?

CZ: I agree. People always say “well if you have nothing to hide, then who cares?” I think thats the wrong attitude. So, before we go I just wanted ask one final question. Ultimately, what is your grand vision for the Komodo Platform and what can we expect in the near future?

L777: Like you said, mass market adoption will need nice GUI. The low level tech in my mind is basically done. We just need to do a bunch more CC, which can, and will be done. Then people can make dApps via RPC calls. So with the easy to use GUI that gets mass market adoption, that achieves the goal of the scalable, secure, private and fast crypto. Likely KMD will be the first to achieve all four and have an atomic DEX to interface with many other cryptos. It has been a long journey, but within a year or so, I think I will become much less important. Things shift into the “GUI-zation” side of things. Maybe I can take a vacation...

CZ: I have no idea how to code but I can only imagine that vacation will be WELL deserved!

JL777: Just imagine writing a novel where if you make ANY mistake it crashes! Not just spelling or grammar, but character development, plot, or any error and BOOM! It’s DEAD!

CZ: Great analogy! Well, thanks so much JL777 for taking time out of your busy schedule to have this chat. You are clearly an intelligent person and I’ve really enjoyed this. There is so much more we could talk about, but unfortunately there is only so much time!

JL777: It was fun to chat! Feel free to stop by the Discord anytime. There is an “Ask-JL777 channel” here. Just post there anytime and I will answer.

Merchant Mondays - pay with Vtc today! New stores & Shopify plugin

Welcome back!

Show your appreciation for the businesses that lead the way in the adoption of cryptocurrencies. Instead of paying with fiat for your next purchase, use this Monday initiative to pay with VTC instead. Did you buy anything with Vertcoin recently? Please share your experience.
Vertcoin Merchant website
This past two weeks we've really started noticing more interest in accepting Vertcoin. This is undoubtedly thanks to all the interest everyone here is creating in the subject. Furthermore, it now became even more trivial to accept VTC payments online with the Shopify plugin. The stars are ligning up people :)
We have a couple of new additions since last week. Some examples are Learncrypto.io, who are set out to teach crypto trading and Astronaut Apparel, who are bringing business and Crypto together in a way that doesn't involve making your own ICO.
If a business should be added to or removed from the list, let me know!

14 months clean and sober

I am great full for every single one of my experiences and for the exact road I took to get here today. Maybe I can enlighten someone by telling my story. Thank you for your time and patience.
I came across a post where a gentleman shared his experience and his road to recovery. It gave me the ambition to do the same. A year or so ago I was attempting to abstain from opiates, putting psychedelics into my body, telling myself that it was for the spiritual properties. I was looking for drugs I had never tried, learning about bitcoin and DarkNet Markets so I could hopefully attempt to obtain better, stronger, “exotic”substances. I was struggling to go into day labor places so I could work and use a days pay to buy bitcoin or some outrageously priced street drug available in the north east part of the United States. Today, things have completely changed.
It’s been a long road. I have a job for the first time in my life. I am 31 years old, and I graduated with honors in 2005. Instead of going to Fresno University on a full ride, I started selling drugs and hanging tough with my gang member friends. I went to prison in 2009 after I went on a crime spree fueled by the overdose death of my fiancé. I did 36 months in a California prison. Upon release I went right back to selling and using. It got so bad that I lived on the streets and chose to shoot as much black as possible. I made my money by panhandling change all day and shooting bags in between each $10 I got. My father kicked me out long ago, and at this point, I had been using drugs everyday, all day, for about 6 years. Heroin for 3. I ended up with Hepatitis C. I stole from people who loved me. I went to jail about 10 more times for parole violations for dirty urine and absconded status (not checking in with my PO). My next one was back to the prison. I moved across the country to where my mother, whom I had never known, lived. Just left everything I had “worked” my entire life to “build” one night. Took 1/4 oz of dope on the Greyhound and 8 days later I ended up here. Almost to Canada. As far away as I could get. Nothing stopped. Nothing changed. I found heroin out here, I was introduced to Suboxone. Started shooting that. I attempted to quit shooting shit and began drinking. Why? Because it’s easier to get. Horrible choice. My mother was a horrible alcoholic so the disease manifested in myself even worse. A year after I got to my new town, I was back in jail fighting an aggravated assault charge which eventually sent me to prison out here for 18 months. Prison twice should have been my rock bottom. Last summer, I went to trial for another aggravated assault in which my plea deal was no less than 8 years. The maximum I could receive was 10 so I thought why not? Funny thing is, I was completely innocent but there were about 10 witnesses against me, somehow. I knew I could win. In all honest, I was scared to death and had no faith in the justice system that had put me away twice before. It was a good legitimate roll of the dice. I went to trial and my charges were dismissed after two days of proceedings. While incarcerated that time, I decided to search for a higher power. (In no way am I about to push God or religion on anyone) I thought, “I spent 10 years doing what I wanted to do, using drugs and wrecking my life, what could it hurt to try and experience some sort of happiness that a large percentage of the population has found?” While learning about Christianity I found my real shining light. Alcoholics Anonymous. Now just like religion, the AA program has a tremendous amount of myths and misunderstandings. (In no way am I trying to push AA on anyone, just telling my story) What I learned is that there is a program, the steps, and when applied to oneself it works wonders. There are steps, and when worked and applied to ones personal life and personality, freed me from my bondage of self. Upon release from the 9 moths of incarceration fighting my case, I immediately went back to using. At this point I had not worked the steps. I was merely introduced to them and then knew they existed. Two prison bids and a trial by jury were not enough to break my resolve. That’s insanity. I went on another run and was arrested 4 months after my trial. I was ready to go to the 30 months I had over my head so I could get out and use drugs at my own pleasure. Until I met a man. He was doing a 5 year bid in the federal prison system for being a felon in possession of a firearm. He came to the county jail to attend some misdemeanor court date. We were “cellys” and he had become “woke” during the 3 years in he had. He got my to realize that I was on a path of never ending recidivism and that drugs would keep me locked in it for eternity unless I made some changes. I decided to try the steps of AA. I hadn’t found exactly what I was hoping for in Christianity but I did gain knowledge and respect for the aspect of it. So once again, what can it hurt to try this AA program? I tried drugs, they didn’t work, they destroyed me and now I need some relief. At least in the end I can say I tried. That was last December. Today I am on State Drug Court. In 3 months I graduate and will be off paper for the first time since I was 22. Life is so much better today. In terms of recovery did AA and the steps. They really work. I’ve made so many real friends whom I trust and respect. Today I actually feel joy and gratitude. Now every aspect of the Alcoholics Anonymous program isn’t perfect. In fact I loath a fair amount of it. I cannot deny though, that the meat and potatoes of the program, the step work, changed my life. Recovery is possible. AA isn’t the only way it can be achieved. Everyone’s road is special and specific to them. Now, I have my own apartment. I have a great job. I have no desire to waste away my days being resentful and intoxicated. It’s honestly a little hard now that Marijuana is legal in my state. But it isn’t impossible. When it comes down to it, I love drugs and being high. It’s fun. I enjoy it. But for me, I cannot function like a productive citizen while doing them. I still love the people (for the most part) and the culture, but I have a definite understanding and respect for the substances themselves.
No matter who you are or what you have been through, there is hope. There is light at the end of the road if it has in fact became dark and frightening. Don’t give up. It’s not over until you say it’s over. The struggle is real, and so is the solution.
Happy Holidays.
